The Passion Pit, another name for the drive-in movie, is the title of this poster from Janet Kruskamp, one of her series of vintage movie posters. This whimsical version of the drive-in marquee features a starry sky, perfect night for a drive-in movie. The sign curves the red text THE PASSION PIT across the top and over the big red heart. Directly under is the black block text DRIVE-IN THEATER, followed underneath with smaller letters reading NOW SHOWING. Drive-in theaters, often used as a passion pit, were once the only place to go to be alone with your date. Drive-in theater management often abetted this behavior by running movies of laughable quality, knowing full well that no one came to actually see the movie. With a multitude of other entertainment choices now, the weathered look of this poster sadly reflects the decaying state of most of the remaining drive-in theaters.
