Apples are being peeled and cored on the table on the right. A flour crust is being rolled out after sifting with a wooden rolling pin. Two pies cool in the window sill above the sink, another sits on the pale green stove with a slice served up on a white plate accompanied by a cup of coffee from the blue enamel coffee pot.
