Drive-in theaters, often used as a passion pit, were once the only place to go to be alone with your date. Drive-in theater management often abetted this behavior by running movies of laughable quality, knowing full well that no one came to actually see the movie. In this painting, the chef's right leg is balanced on a giant wheel of cheese, a large slice of which is balanced on a serving platter in his right hand. His right foot balances a glass of red wine, while his left hand holds a larger white platter with a mostly full bottle of red wine, three full wine glasses impossibly balanced on top of each other.
